Privacy policy
This policy explains how Trippy collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use the website, make a booking, send a quote request, or contact us.
1. Information we collect
When you make a booking, send a private tour request, use the contact form, or look up an existing booking, Trippy may collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, country of origin, travel date, pickup time, pickup point, accommodation, guest count, selected tour, selected add-ons, special requests, quote details, and booking/payment status.
We may also collect technical information needed to run the website, such as session data, security tokens, device/browser details, server logs, and basic information about how the site is used.
2. How we use information
Trippy uses personal information to process bookings, prepare tour details, respond to quote requests, communicate with customers, send booking and payment emails, manage pickup arrangements, provide support, prevent abuse, and keep operational records.
We may use booking and quote information internally to plan routes, assign availability, review customer requests, and improve the services offered by Trippy.
3. Payments and third-party services
Payments are handled through Teya or another payment provider used by Trippy. Trippy may store payment status, payment reference, order number, checkout metadata, and refund status, but we do not store full card details on this website.
Trippy may use Google Calendar to manage tour scheduling and Gmail or Google services to send operational emails. Booking and contact details may be shared with these services only as needed to provide the service.
The pickup address suggestion feature may send the typed address query to an Icelandic address lookup service so that relevant pickup suggestions can be shown.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Trippy uses necessary cookies and similar browser storage where needed for core website features, such as sessions, forms, security, booking lookup, and checkout flow.
The cookie reference screenshots show these common categories:
- Necessary cookies: required for site security, forms, sessions, page navigation, booking lookup, and checkout. These are always active because the site cannot work properly without them.
- Functional cookies: used for optional features such as preferences, feedback, embedded tools, or social features if Trippy enables them.
- Analytics cookies: used to understand site traffic and visitor behaviour if analytics tools are enabled.
- Performance cookies: used to measure and improve website performance if performance monitoring tools are enabled.
- Advertisement cookies: used for advertising or campaign measurement if advertising tools are enabled.
- Uncategorised cookies: cookies that have not yet been classified.
At launch, Trippy should only enable optional cookie categories if there is a cookie preference tool or another lawful basis for doing so. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings.
5. Data retention
Trippy keeps personal information for as long as needed to provide the service, manage bookings, answer customer questions, keep business records, meet legal or accounting obligations, handle disputes, and prevent misuse.
Contact messages, quote requests, booking records, payment references, calendar records, and email records may be kept for different periods depending on operational and legal requirements.
6. Sharing information
Trippy does not sell customer personal information. We share information only when needed to operate the service, process payments, send emails, manage scheduling, comply with law, protect rights or safety, or work with trusted service providers.
Service providers may process information outside Iceland or the European Economic Area. When that happens, Trippy relies on appropriate safeguards where required by law.
7. Security
Trippy uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No website, payment flow, email system, or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Customers should keep booking links, order numbers, and payment links private and contact Trippy if they believe their information has been used incorrectly.
8. Customer rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, ask for corrections, request deletion, object to certain processing, restrict processing, or request a copy of your data.
Some information may need to be kept where required for legal, accounting, security, dispute, or operational reasons.
9. Contact
For privacy questions, correction requests, deletion requests, or cookie questions, contact Trippy using the contact details shown on the website or in your booking confirmation.
Trippy may update this privacy policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page.
